How to: Publish a Branch

Prev Next

In this how-to guide, you’ll learn how to publish a branch. Publishing a branch sets it as the primary application in Express View, and becomes the application that end-users can interact with.

Publishing a Branch

Creators publish a branch using the Branch & Version Manage drawer located on the Application Or Module Builder pages.

Start a Publication

To start a publication, open the branch that will be published. Creators cannot publish a previously published version.

To publish from the application or Module Builder page:

  1. At the top of the page, click the (branch) icon. The Branch & Version Management drawer displays to the right of the page.

  2. Navigate the Branches tab and verify or open the branch you want to publish.

  3. Click Publish. The Publish Branch modal displays.

Publish the Branch

Using the Publish Branch modal, Creators set the update type, version number, and version name for the publish. They can also set the published version as the default application and delete the branch on publication.

To publish a branch:

  1. From the Update Type, select the type of update to apply. This setting updates the Version Number to Publish field. Follow your company’s best practices for selecting an update type.

  2. In the Version Name field, enter a name for the version.

  3. (Optional) Select Make Published Version Default if this is the default version you want users to access.

  4. (Optional) Select Delete Branch After Publish if the branch is no longer needed.

  5. Click Publish Version. The application page refreshes, and the published branch displays in the Branch & Version Management drawer’s Published Versions tab.

After publishing a branch, the Express View application updates to use the new version.
