Each Smart Component has a single definition. Editing one and publishing the change updates every module that uses it immediately. Smart Components can be built in the **Smart Component Editor** or generated by the **UnqorkAI Build Agent**. Both paths produce the same result: a versioned, environment-wide component definition. ## Component Types Every Smart Component has one of four types. The type is set at creation and cannot be changed afterward. | Type | What it does | | --- | --- | | **UI** | Renders a visual interface in a module. Receives typed input values and displays output on the canvas. | | **Logic** | Runs logic in sequence with other components. Has no visual presence. Processes input data and returns output data. | | **Query** | Reads data from a data source. Configured with mapped inputs and output triggers, similar to a Plug-In component. | | **Agentic** | Provides AI-powered in-app experiences. Includes the Chat Agent Smart Component and the AI Summarizer. Requires a separate AI capabilities agreement. | Smart Components do not persist data. Any data a Smart Component produces must be output from the component and wired to other components or a data model for storage. ## Public and Private Every Smart Component is either **Private** or **Public**. This controls reusability and how the Build Agent uses the component. | State | Reusable across modules | Used by Build Agent for reuse | Can change back | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | **Private** | No (one module only) | No | N/A | | **Public** | Yes | Yes, as a preferred component | No | The Build Agent creates and modifies both Private and Public Smart Components. Private components are accessible to the Build Agent within their home module, but the Build Agent does not reuse them across other modules. A new Smart Component is Private by default. Making a component Public is permanent. See [Smart Components Hub](/unqorkai/docs/smart-components-hub) for details. ## Smart Components Hub The **Smart Components Hub** is where Creators browse, filter, and manage all Smart Components in the environment. It displays components on separate **Public** and **Private** tabs. From the Hub, Creators can open a component in the editor, make a component Public, promote it to another environment, duplicate it, or delete it. See [Smart Components Hub](/unqorkai/docs/smart-components-hub) for the full reference. ## Smart Component Editor The **Smart Component Editor** is where Creators write, preview, configure, and test Smart Components. The editor uses the same shell as the Module Builder with area tabs for **Definition**, **Tests**, and **History**. The views available in the Definition area depend on the component type: - **UI Smart Components**: UI view (live preview canvas) and Logic view - **Logic and Query Smart Components**: Logic view only See [Smart Component Editor](/unqorkai/docs/smart-component-editor) for the full reference. ## Drafts and Publishing Editing a Smart Component creates a draft. A draft is a private working copy. Changes are not live in any module until the draft is published. Only one Creator can hold a draft at a time. When the Creator holds the draft, **Review Changes** displays in the SC Editor toolbar.
