Understanding these types helps Creators connect components correctly, configure logic outputs, and debug unexpected data behavior. ## String A sequence of text characters. Most input components store values as strings. **Example values**: `"Hello"`, `"user@example.com"`, `"option-a"` | Component | Notes | | --- | --- | | AI Summarizer | The generated summary text. The component writes it to its output Property ID. | | Dropdown | Value of the selected option. | | Email | The text the end-user enters. Validation checks for a valid email format. | | Navigation | The **Value** of the active navigation item. This is not the Property ID of the linked panel. | | Phone Number | The characters the end-user enters, without the mask's formatting. With the default mask, `(555) 123-4567` is stored as `5551234567`. | | Protected Field | The value the end-user enters, stored as entered. The field masks it on screen only. | | Radio | Value of the selected option, always stored as a string. | | Rich Text Editor (v1) | HTML markup string. | | Signature | PNG image as a Base64 data URI, like `data:image/png;base64,...`. | | Text Area | Can contain newlines. | | Text Field | Plain text. | > [!CAUTION] > Protected Field and Signature values are sensitive data. Creators should treat these values as sensitive and follow their company's encryption standards before storing them. ## Number An integer or decimal value. **Example values**: `42`, `3.14`, `-100`, `0` | Component | Notes | | --- | --- | | Checkpoint | A timestamp in milliseconds. The platform stores it in submission metadata instead of submission data. | | Number | Integer or decimal depending on component configuration. | | Timer | The seconds remaining on the countdown. The value reaches `0` when the timer ends, even when the component displays elapsed time. | ## Boolean A true or false value. **Example values**: `true`, `false` | Component | Notes | | --- | --- | | Single Checkbox | `true` when checked and `false` when cleared. The value is empty until the end-user interacts with the checkbox, unless **Set Default Value to Checked** is **ON**. | ## Array An ordered list of values. Items in the array are typically strings or objects. **Example values**: `["option-a", "option-b"]` | Component | Saved Structure | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | Advanced Datagrid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Browser Storage | Array of objects | One object per matching storage record. The `data` property of each object holds the saved fields. | | Checkboxes | Array of strings | One string per checked option value. | | Data Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Data Mapper | Array of objects | One object per mapped row. | | Data Table | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Dynamic Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | File | Array of objects | One object per uploaded file, containing file metadata. | | Freeform Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Multi-Select Dropdown | Array of strings | One string per selected option value. | | Repeater | Array of objects | One object per repeated row. The array is the source data the rows are generated from, not the values end-users enter. | | Search Select | Array of strings | One string per selected option value. A single-select field stores a one-item array. | | Simple Select | Array of strings | One string per selected option value. A single-select field stores a one-item array. | | Uniform Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | ## Object A collection of key-value pairs representing structured data. **Example values**: `{ "street": "123 Main St", "city": "New York", "state": "NY" }` | Component | Notes | | --- | --- | | Address | Structured address fields returned from the address lookup service. | | Address Search | Structured address fields returned from the address lookup service, including `formatted`, `street`, `street2`, `city`, `state`, `zip`, and `country`. | | Intl Phone Number | Contains `number`, `internationalNumber`, and `countryCode`. | | Map v2 | Contains `query`, the address searched, and `coords`, an array of objects that each hold the `lat` and `lng` of a matched location. | | Matrix | Contains one key for each row value. Each key maps to the selected column value for that row. A row with a details field adds a second key, made of the row value followed by `details`. | | Plaid | Contains the `publicToken` for the linked account. | | Rich Text Editor (v2) | Contains `html`, the HTML markup string, and an optional `collaboration` object. | > [!CAUTION] > The Plaid `publicToken` is sensitive data. Creators should follow their company's encryption standards before storing it. ## ISO 8601 Date String Date and time values stored as a formatted string, not a native date object. The Date component stores its value in ISO 8601 format. **Example values**: `"2026-03-12T00:00:00.000Z"`, `"2026-03-12"` | Component | Notes | | --- | --- | | Date Input | When **Store Date Only** is **OFF**, a full timestamp in the end-user's local time. The trailing `Z` does not indicate a conversion to UTC. When **Store Date Only** is **ON**, the date only, like `2026-03-12`. | > [!NOTE] > When reading a date value in logic components, treat the field as a string. Use format or parse operations to extract specific date parts. ## Components with Variable Values The value type of the following components depends on how Creators configure them: | Component | Notes | | --- | --- | | Calculator | Writes results to the Property IDs mapped in its outputs, so each output has its own type. | | Data Workflow | Writes results to the Property IDs mapped in its outputs, so each output has its own type. | | Decisions | Writes results to the Property IDs mapped in its outputs, so each output has its own type. | | Hidden | Stores any value passed to it, including strings, numbers, booleans, arrays, and objects. | | Initializer | Writes results to the Property IDs mapped in its outputs, so each output has its own type. | | Plug-In | Writes results to the Property IDs mapped in its outputs, so each output has its own type. | | View Grid | Writes pagination details and selected rows to the Property IDs Creators configure for them. | ## Component Value Quick Reference A quick reference listing each component and the data type of its value. Use this table when connecting components through logic, hidden fields, or data mappings. | Component | Value Type | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | Address | Object | Structured address fields from the lookup service. | | Address Search | Object | Structured address fields from the lookup service. | | Advanced Datagrid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | AI Summarizer | String | The generated summary text, written to the output Property ID. | | Browser Storage | Array of objects | One object per matching storage record. | | Checkboxes | Array of strings | One string per checked option value. | | Checkpoint | Number | A timestamp in milliseconds, stored in submission metadata. | | Data Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Data Mapper | Array of objects | One object per mapped row. | | Data Table | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Date Input | String | ISO 8601 format, like `"2026-03-12T00:00:00.000Z"`, or the date only when **Store Date Only** is **ON**. | | Dropdown | String | Value of the selected option. | | Dynamic Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Email | String | The text the end-user enters. | | File | Array of objects | One object per uploaded file, containing file metadata. | | Freeform Grid | Array of objects | One object per row. | | Hidden | Any | Stores any value passed to it. | | Intl Phone Number | Object | Contains `number`, `internationalNumber`, and `countryCode`. | | Map v2 | Object | Contains `query` and `coords`, an array of `lat` and `lng` objects. | | Matrix | Object | Contains one key for each row value. Also known as Unqork Users, or Designer Users; is anyone who is inside the Unqork platform. Debugging is the process of finding and resolving errors or bugs in an application. To debug an application in Unqork, use UNQENG tools in Express View. A string is an object that represents a sequence of characters. Strings typically hold data represented in text form. A Property ID is the unique field ID used by Unqork to track and link components in your module. End-users, also known as Express Users, are the individuals accessing an application through Express View. In most cases, end-users are the customers using the product. The Number data type accepts integer or floating point values. The number data type does not use quotes around numerical values. A string is an object that represents a sequence of characters. Strings typically hold data represented in text form. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is the standard markup language for for achieving font, color, graphic, and hyperlink effects when creating web pages. Base64 is an encoding and decoding technique used to convert binary data to an ASCII (American Standard for Information Interchange) text format. URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) identifies a resource by name, location, or both. An array is a type of object that stores one or more data types. Data types supported in arrays include numbers, strings, and objects. An object is a type of data structure that represents a single, self-contained entity that acts as a container for the characteristics of that entity.
