# Centauri and Vega Runtimes

The Unqork Module Builder supports two execution runtimes: and **Vega (2.0)**. The runtime determines how components in a module render and communicate with the platform. Most modules use Centauri. Vega is required only when a module includes components that have not been rebuilt for the Centauri runtime.

## Centauri (1.0)

Centauri is the current standard runtime for all Unqork modules and the default for all new modules. It supports the full range of Module Builder components. Use Centauri unless the module requires a Vega-only component.

## Vega (2.0)

Vega is the previous execution runtime. It remains available because a set of components has not yet been rebuilt for Centauri. If the module includes any of the following components, the runtime must be set to Vega:

| [Vega Chart](/unqorkai/docs/vega-chart-component) | Displays data as configurable charts with multiple series types. |

## Setting the Runtime

### Module Level

The runtime for an entire module is set in the Module Details section:

**Definition** → **Settings** → **Module Details** → **Runtime**

Options: **Centauri (1.0)** or **Vega (2.0)**.

All components in the module render using this runtime unless overridden at the panel level.

### Panel Level

Individual [Panel components](/unqorkai/docs/panel-component) can override the module-level runtime for their child components:

**Panel** component → **Runtime** → **Render Components with**

Options: **Centauri (1.0)** or **Vega (2.0)**.

This lets Creators include Vega-only components inside a Centauri module without switching the entire module to Vega.

## Mixed-Runtime Modules

When a module uses Centauri but a specific Panel component uses Vega, component data behaves differently. Centauri component data is stored at the top level of submission data by default. Vega component data is nested under the Panel component's Property ID.

Enable **Promote Data to Top Level** on the Panel component to promote Vega component data to the top level of submission data, alongside Centauri data.

## Operations Builder

The Operations Builder is a Vega-specific feature. It displays in the settings panel of most components when the module or panel runtime is set to **Vega (2.0)**. Creators use it to define event handlers directly on a component, without a separate logic component. Handlers respond to platform-level events, like value changes, focus, blur, and custom signals.

The Vega (v 2.0.0) runtime is the next-generation engine of the UDesigner platform. Vega uses cutting-edge technologies to improve the Creator and end-user experience.

Rendering is the process of loading components and displaying the final result on the front-end screen.

The Centauri (v 1.0.0) runtime is the first-generation foundation of the Unqork Designer Platform. Centauri provides Creators a codeless experience for developing applications.

The Vega (v 2.0.0) runtime is the next-generation engine of the UDesigner platform. Vega uses cutting-edge technologies to improve the Creator and end-user experience.

A URL (uniform resource locator) is a unique identifier used to locate a resource on the internet. Also known as a web address.

A runtime engine is software that runs on a computer to allow applications to execute.

Also known as Unqork Users, or Designer Users; is anyone who is inside the Unqork platform.

A Property ID is the unique field ID used by Unqork to track and link components in your module.

A functionality of a software. For example, Copy and Paste is a feature of a computer's operating system.

Focus indicates the element of the graphical user interface which is currently selected to receive input. Elements with focus sometimes have an accesibility border highlighted around them.
