Overview

Updates to Unqork’s UDLC Toolkit will be released in all lower environments (Staging, UAT, QA), representing the first phase in a series of security improvements to the UDLC Toolkit through the implementation of RBAC (role-based access control). Some UDLC tools have been refactored to leverage Unqork’s existing Environment-Role RBAC, as well as the new Workspaces RBAC (Workspaces Role-Based Access Control). Doing so allows Administrators to assign permissions at the Workspace level. Other UDLC tools will be soft-deprecated due to low levels of utilization and to reduce maintenance overhead.

The 3.0.2 UDLC Platform Release Notes contain enhancements to the Release Management Dashboard tool and improved permission coverage with Workspaces RBAC and the UDLC Toolkit.

Workspaces RBAC

The following UDLC tools have been updated to respect Workspaces RBAC permissions.

  • Config Analysis Dashboard tool: Previously, any Creator could access the Config Analysis Dashboard tool. Now, when using Environment Roles only, Creators can view all data with this tool. When using Workspaces RBAC, menus populate with applications and modules where the Creator has access.

  • Testing tool: Previously, any Creator could access the Testing tool. Now, when using Environment Roles only, Creators can view all data with this tool. When using Workspaces RBAC, Creators can view data related to modules inside the workspace(s) where they have access.

Release Management Dashboard Tool

  • Data Collections: Previously, when using the Release Management Dashboard tool, Data Collections could only be promoted when packaged with modules. Data Collections can now be promoted individually.

  • Module-Level Promotions: Previously, promotion status information was only available when navigating to the Promotions tool in Designer. The Module-level promotion status is now available on the Release Details page.

UDLC Toolkit Homepage

  • Discovery Hub tool: The Discovery Hub is no longer available on the UDLC Toolkit homepage.

  • Flexible Data Manager tool: The Flexible Data Manager tool is only available to Administrators. Non-Administrator users no longer have access to this tool. This change is consistent with permission restrictions for this tool.

  • Documentation Links: All UDLC tools now have links to direct users to their respective documentation.
