The Style Administration page is where administrators manage the CSS styles applied across the environment. Styles control the visual appearance of published applications. Each environment can have multiple styles, with one designated as the default. > [!WARNING] > Managing styles requires administrative permissions. Administrators needing access should contact their environment administrator. ## Style List The style list displays all styles configured in the environment. | Column | Description | | --- | --- | | **Name** | The style name. Selecting the name opens the style detail view. Styles may display one or more of the following badges: • **Default**: The active style applied across the environment. • **Unqork**: A built-in platform style. • **Base**: Used as a base for another style. | | **Last Modified** | The date and time the style was last updated. | | **Actions** | Style-level actions. See [Style Actions](/unqorkai/docs/style-administration-1#style-actions). | ### Page Actions | Action | Description | | --- | --- | | **Add Style** | Opens a modal to create a new style. | ### Style Actions Click the actions menu on any row to access the following actions: | Action | Description | | --- | --- | | **Edit** | Opens the style detail view to edit the style's CSS and settings. See [Editing a Style](/unqorkai/docs/style-administration-1#editing-a-style). | | **Promote** | Promotes the style to another environment. See [Promote](/unqorkai/docs/style-administration-1#promote). | | **Promotion History** | Displays the promotion history for the style. See [Promotion History](/unqorkai/docs/style-administration-1#promotion-history). | | **Download** | Downloads the style as a `.css` file. | | **Set as Default** | Sets this style as the default applied across the environment. Not available if the style is already the default. | | **Delete** | Permanently removes the style. Not available on the default style or on styles used as a base for another style. | ## Adding a Style Click **Add Style** to open the Add Style modal. | Field | Description | | --- | --- | | **Name** | A unique name for the style. Must contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens, and must not begin with a hyphen. | | **Description** | An optional description of the style's purpose. | | **Base Style** | An optional existing style to use as the foundation for this style. Inherited styles build on the base style's CSS. Only styles with no base style of their own are available. Base styles cannot be chained. | | **Linked Theme** | An optional Smart Component theme to apply to applications that use this style. Select **None** to link no theme. Displays only when UnqorkAI is active and the Creator has permission to view themes. See [Linking a Theme](/unqorkai/docs/style-administration-1#linking-a-theme). | | **Stylesheet** | A file drop area for uploading the style's `.css` file. Drag and drop a CSS file or click to select one. Maximum file size: 10 MB. | | **Set as default style** | When checked, this setting sets this style as the default applied across the environment. | Click **Create** to save the style, or **Cancel** to discard. ## Editing a Style Click **Edit** from the style's actions menu to open the edit view. The edit view has two tabs: **Details** and **Assets**. The **Details** tab contains the style's settings. The **Assets** tab provides access to the Style Assets file manager. The **Assets** tab is not available when adding a new style. The **Details** tab uses the same fields as the Add Style modal with the following differences: - **Name** is read-only. - **Set as default style** does not display. Use **Set as Default** from the actions menu instead. - **Stylesheet** displays the existing file as `customer.css`. Click the remove icon to reveal the file drop area and replace it with a new file. - **Base Style** is disabled if the style is currently serving as a base for another style. Unqork-managed styles display an info message: "This is an Unqork-managed style. Some fields cannot be modified." All fields are disabled for Unqork styles except **Linked Theme**. It stays enabled so a theme can be linked to a built-in style. Click **Save** to apply changes, or **Cancel** to discard. ## Linking a Theme The **Linked Theme** drop-down connects a style to a theme created in the [Theme Editor](/unqorkai/docs/theme-editor). A theme reaches an application through its style: the application uses a style, and the style links to a theme. Smart Components in the application then render with the theme's design tokens. To link a theme: 1. Click **Add Style**, or select **Edit** from the actions menu of an existing style. 3. Select a theme from **Linked Theme**. 4. Click **Create** or **Save**. To remove the link, select **None** in **Linked Theme** and save the style. The following rules apply. - **One theme per application**: An application has at most one theme, the one linked to its style. Applications that share a style share its theme. - **Requirements**: The field displays only when UnqorkAI is active in the environment and the Creator's role includes permission to view themes. Without both, the field is hidden and the style keeps its current link. - **Empty list**: The drop-down is disabled when the environment has no themes. - **Theme Mode**: The linked theme supplies the light and dark token values. Each Smart Component on a module has its own **Theme Mode** setting that selects **Light**, **Dark**, or **System**. See [Using Smart Components in a Module](/unqorkai/docs/using-smart-components-in-a-module). - **Deleted themes**: Deleting a theme leaves the styles that used it without a theme. Applications keep using the style, but no theme applies until a theme is linked again. - **Scope**: A theme styles Smart Components only. Built-in components, like Text Field, Panel, and Navigation, take their appearance from the style's CSS, so editing the theme does not change them. A module that mixes both can look inconsistent after a theme change. ## Style Assets The **Assets** tab in the edit view provides a file manager for assets referenced in the style's CSS, like fonts, images, and icons. ### Page Actions | Action | Description | | --- | --- | | **Upload** | Uploads one or more files to the current folder. | | **New Folder** | Opens a dialog to create a subfolder. Folder names must contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens, must not begin with a hyphen, and must be 255 characters or fewer. | > [!NOTE] > **Upload** and **New Folder** are disabled for Unqork-managed styles. ### Folder Navigation Select a folder to open it. Use the **Back** button to return to the parent folder. ### Assets Table | Column | Description | | --- | --- | | **Title** | The file or folder name. | | **File Size** | The size of the file. Folders display no value. | | **Last Modified** | The date the asset was last updated. | ### Asset Actions | Action | Available On | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | **Download** | Files only | Downloads the file. | | **Copy Path** | Files only | Copies the relative (like `./assets/fonts/myFont.woff2`) to the clipboard for use in CSS. | | **Delete** | Files and folders | Permanently removes the asset or folder. | ### Upload Limits The following file size limits apply to style assets. | Asset type | Extensions | Size limit | | --- | --- | --- | | Images | `.svg`, `.png`, `.jpg`, `.jpeg`, `.gif`, `.webp` | 10 MB | | Icons | `.ico` | 1 MB | | Fonts | `.eot`, `.ttf`, `.otf`, `.woff`, `.woff2` | 10 MB | ## Promote Selecting **Promote** from a style's actions menu opens the Promote Style dialog. Select a target environment from the drop-down (environments display as `clientName - clientLevel`) then click **Promote** to confirm. When the style has a linked theme, the dialog also displays the **Also promote the linked theme** checkbox. It is cleared by default. Select it to promote the theme to the target environment in the same promotion. A style promoted without its linked theme renders without the theme in the target environment until the theme is promoted. Themes can also be promoted from the [Theme Editor](/unqorkai/docs/theme-editor#theme-actions). > [!WARNING] > Styles are promoted individually and independently of application promotion. A style must be promoted to each target environment before it takes effect there. ## Promotion History Selecting **Promotion History** from a style's actions menu opens the Promotion History dialog, which displays a table of all promotions for the style. | Column | Description | | --- | --- | | **Promoted By** | The Creator who initiated the promotion. | | **Date** | The date and time of the promotion. | | **Type** | The direction and environment. For example, `In: staging` or `Out: production`. | If the style has never been promoted, the dialog displays "This style has not been promoted." --- **Changelog** | Date | Change | | --- | --- | | 2026-10-15 | Added Linked Theme field and Linking a Theme section; documented the promote-with-theme option, theme scope, and the Unqork-managed exception. | | 2026-06-30 | Added Upload Limits section to Style Assets (10 MB images/fonts, 1 MB ico). Added 10 MB limit to Stylesheet field description. | | — | Initial publication. | Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for presenting how a HTML or XML document looks to end-users.
