Move applications between environments (for example, Staging to QA or Pre-Production to Production). Releases can group one or more applications, including their modules and Data Collections. Detailed release information keeps promotions organized, and rolling back to a previous release keeps a working application available while troubleshooting. > [!WARNING] > Review the following before promoting a release: > > > - By default, UDLC Toolkit tools are available in Staging, QA, and UAT environment levels. > - Administrators must promote the toolkit to Pre-Production and Production environment levels before it works there. See [UDLC Toolkit Overview](/unqorkai/docs/udlc-toolkit-overview). > - Obtain approval from the organization's information security team before promoting the toolkit. > - After promotion, clients are responsible for repromoting new versions of the UDLC Toolkit when released to lower environment levels. > - Empty applications cannot be promoted. The application must include modules and/or workflows with entry points to promote. > - Tools like the Flexible Data Manager let end-users access and modify submission data, which might include sensitive data or PII. Unqork recommends following the principle of least privilege for all roles, especially Designer and Express administration, and monitoring administrator account activity. ## Access Requirements This tool requires specific role access in Environment Role RBAC or WSRBAC (Workspaces Role-Based Access Control). - **Environment Roles (without WSRBAC)**: Creator roles can view all data in this tool. - **WSRBAC**: Creators must have at minimum Can View permissions to access this tool, and Can Manage permissions for the appropriate workspaces. ## Release Dashboard After accessing the tool, the Release Dashboard displays a table of releases organized by creation date, with the most recent at the top. Each entry lists the environment, version number, and promoted application. The table displays 10 entries at a time. Use the pagination buttons to see more. ![Release Management Dashboard showing a table of releases organized by creation date with columns for environment, version, and promoted application.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/15548f06-2fba-434c-b0c1-5df88317dbd7/Images/Documentation/api_upload_20261015_142304_ac6f3e16555043de8de56593427475d4.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T18%3A01%3A12Z&se=2026-11-08T19%3A01%3A12Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WlP9CkuzsqBGbfKihMT4Ya9SI2y%2BnSnYqKf1ZsfP4us%3D) ### Filters Use filters to find a specific release. Use the [Config Analysis Dashboard](/unqorkai/docs/config-analysis-dashboard) to submit a request. Click **Create New Release**, then click **OK** in the confirmation dialog. ![Create New Release confirmation modal with an OK button to proceed with creating the release.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/15548f06-2fba-434c-b0c1-5df88317dbd7/Images/Documentation/api_upload_20261015_142305_32cfea09555c4d49a8fa2bac6fc1db1b.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T18%3A01%3A12Z&se=2026-11-08T19%3A01%3A12Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WlP9CkuzsqBGbfKihMT4Ya9SI2y%2BnSnYqKf1ZsfP4us%3D) ## Promoting a Release After creating the release, the Release Dashboard reloads with the new release at the top. > [!WARNING] > Versioned applications cannot be promoted using this tool. See [Application Versioning](/unqorkai/docs/application-versioning-overview) for version-controlled promotions. To promote the release: 1. Click **View** to the right of the release. 2. In the **Options** section, click **Promote**, then click **OK** in the confirmation dialog. ![Promote confirmation modal with OK and Finish buttons for confirming the release promotion.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/15548f06-2fba-434c-b0c1-5df88317dbd7/Images/Documentation/api_upload_20261015_142305_c3d020a44e6646399e12cb7194a397ac.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T18%3A01%3A12Z&se=2026-11-08T19%3A01%3A12Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WlP9CkuzsqBGbfKihMT4Ya9SI2y%2BnSnYqKf1ZsfP4us%3D) 3. Click **Finish**. Promotion moves through Unqork environments in sequential order. Only one target environment level is available at a time. Keep the release name consistent across versions to avoid confusion. > [!TIP] > After promoting, confirm that applications match in both the source and target environment levels. This is especially important for login, logout, header, and footer modules. ## Promoting a New Version When changes are ready to promote, follow the same steps in [Creating a Release](/unqorkai/docs/release-management-dashboard#creating-a-release) with a new version number. Unqork recommends using a new version number each time. Avoid reusing a version number from a previous release. Consider keeping the release name consistent with the previous version for organizational purposes. After creating the release, follow the same steps in [Promoting a Release](/unqorkai/docs/release-management-dashboard#promoting-a-release). ## Rolling Back a Release If an application breaks in Production, roll back to a previous known-good release to keep the application available while resolving the issue. > [!WARNING] > Only complete applications can be rolled back. A warning displays if associated modules are not selected. Workflows and Data Collections cannot be rolled back. To roll back: 1. Use the Release Dashboard's filters to locate the release and click **View**. 2. Click **Rollback**, then click **OK** in the confirmation dialog. ![Rollback confirmation modal with an OK button to confirm rolling back the release.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/15548f06-2fba-434c-b0c1-5df88317dbd7/Images/Documentation/api_upload_20261015_142305_3bee6f316f3b4b37bfd03de19a9e1cf6.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T18%3A01%3A12Z&se=2026-11-08T19%3A01%3A12Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WlP9CkuzsqBGbfKihMT4Ya9SI2y%2BnSnYqKf1ZsfP4us%3D) Troubleshoot and repromote when ready. ## Restoring a Release Restore returns a previous release version in the current environment level. Use restoring as a last resort when a serious issue occurs. Rolling back is typically the preferred option. After making fixes, repromote the changes. > [!WARNING] > Only applications can be restored to a previous release version. Data Collections cannot be restored. To restore: 1. Use the Release Dashboard's filters to locate the release and click **View**. 2. Click **Restore**, then click **OK** in the confirmation dialog. ![Restore confirmation modal with an OK button to confirm restoring the release to a previous version.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/15548f06-2fba-434c-b0c1-5df88317dbd7/Images/Documentation/api_upload_20261015_142305_4e305fc4d6814b1ab775adcfcde9f055.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T18%3A01%3A12Z&se=2026-11-08T19%3A01%3A12Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WlP9CkuzsqBGbfKihMT4Ya9SI2y%2BnSnYqKf1ZsfP4us%3D) 3. When the restore completes, click **Finish**. --- **Changelog** | Date | Change | | --- | --- | | 2026-10-15 | Aligned the promotion note with the UDLC Toolkit Overview: the toolkit must be promoted to Pre-Production and Production. Use it to build, test, and style your applications. Use your QA (quality assurance) environment to test applications to ensure reliability, security, and functionality before releasing them to the end-user. The Production environment is the final stage of the development process. Use this environment to promote tested and functioning application so your end-user can interact with it. The UDLC (Unqork Development Lifecycle) Toolkit is a set of tools designed to manage Unqork applications. Use the UAT (user acceptance testing) environment to realistically test and navigate your applications as end-users would use them. End-users, also known as Express Users, are the individuals accessing an application through Express View. In most cases, end-users are the customers using the product.
